NEW YEAR'S SPORTS.
• The only amusement provided here on New Year's Day besides the cricket match was a programme of sports got up by the energy of a few members of the Regatta Committee and others, Mr. J. Anand acting as secretary. The sports took place on the beach, below the " Willows," and were generally fairly contested. The running high jump was long, and very keenly contended for. The weather was fine, and many pleasure seekers were abroad, having great difficulty in amusing themselves.. • We hope that nest Ne\v Year's holiday will see vgood list of sports, and jiumerousentries.
