TO THE ELECTORS OF THE PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND WHO WANT NOTHING OF THE GOVERNMENT, BUT TO SEE IT ADMINISTERED WITH JUSTICE AND ECONOMY. GENTLEMEN,— Many persons whose opinions lam bound to respect, have expressed themselves to me as if they con-i sidercu *bat I had failed in iry duty in not having SO’S? 6l ' °ff ere d myself for election as Superintendent the Provience.

I have no with party. And I will receive a vote from DO man as a favour. But if you are of opinion wiA’ l me > tha t we have bad enough of what is filled party Government, I offer you an opportunity of electing a Superintendent who will stJ Q d pledged only to this, that he will be a faithful steward of the interests committed to his charge, and that he will bring to the discharge of his duties whatever ability and txperience of thirty-four years of Colonial life may have given him, many of those years having been spent in official employments of some difficulty and responsibility. I think it is necessary to add, that as I am induced to come forward net by personal but public motives, I shall take no measures whatever to proccre my election. If you beleive with me that uhe prosperity of the Province has been sacrificed to party spirit and party interests, and that I would be the right man in the right place to put an end to the hateful and ruinous domination of party, it is as much your duty to elect me as it is mine to place my services at your disposial. I shall not continue this advertisement; and as it was my intention to return to the Bay of Islands by the first opportunity, before I thought of issuing this address, I shall adhere to that intention, uniess any of the electors should desire an immediate exposition of my views with regard to any point upon wbieh they are entitled to information. I have the honor to be, Gentlemen, Your most obedient humble servant, Auckland, June 30,1857. James Busby
