FRUIT AND PRODUCE

The week has been a very busy one, the exceptionally warm weather bringing the fruit on very quickly, increased supplies of/ Apricots, Peaches and Plums have been coming forward from Central. The demand is good. Nectarines are also increasing in supply.. Small quanti ties of Strawberries still continue'to come to hand and meet a good demand. Raspberries are exceptionally scarce, and Loganberries are finished for the season. Small supplies of Red and Black Currants are still arriving, and bringing good values. Rhubarb is in good supply with prices low. N.Z. Lemons continue to come to hand. A shipment of Bananas arrived this week, f the fruit being in fairly wasty condition. Small supplies of Apples principally Gravensteins, and Pears are being distributed. Some very fine quality Flowers are coming on to the market, but sales are difficult and prices quite unpayable. Vegetables are in good supply. Cabbage has a fair demand, but cauliflowers have dropped in value. Lettuce has a fair enquiry„ although prices are low. Cucumbers have firmed in value, with limited consignments coming forward. There is a fair demand for French and Butter Beans. Good green peas have a demand, with fair supplies coming to hand. Carrots are in very short supply. Heavy supplies of Potatoes continue to arrive, some being immature and diseased. Eggs— There is a good demand for supplies, and prices show a further advance., Poultry—A large yarding* of poultry, particularly Ducks, cam forward for Wednesday's sale. Prices for most lines were slightlv easier.
