HOSPITAL BOARD

__ MANIOTOTO The usual meeting of the Committee of the above Board was held in Ranfurly on 14th July, and was attended by Messrs T. A. Lowis (chair), P. Aitken and W. Howell, members of the committee and Dr E. P. Honghton, Medical Superintendent. Report— The Medical Superintendent reported that 33 males and 28 females were admitted to the Hospital during the month of June. 25 males and 24 females were discharged during the month, while 4 male patients had died and 19 remained under treatment at the end of June. Six babies were born in the hospital during the month. Correspondence— The • Waipiata Sanatorium Committee advised that as soon as payment of the increased amount of Hospital Benefits for the months of April and May had been received from the Social Security. Department, a amount paid in excess of 1/6 per day. The Auckland Hospital Board advised that as from Ist July, the charge for maintenance of patients who are residents of other Hospital Board Districts would be 18/- per day. The DirectorGeneral of Health advised that it had been decided to fix the date for the coining into effect of the .increase to 9/- per day for inpatient treatment at Ist April, 1943. The Department of Health wrote advising that the estimates, amended as a result of the increase in the payment for in-patient treatment, were approved. Levies payable by local authorities were now £3033/8/ and subsidy thereon was £3003/0/6,, a reduction of £238/8/0 and £357/12 respectively' on the original estimates. Accounts and Finance — The Secretary reported that receipts since the date of the last meeting amounted to £IOO7/3/6 and that at the date of the meeting there was a debit balance in the Bank Account amounting to £527/10/8. Accounts and salaries amounting to £574/6/8 were passed for payment.
