FOOTBALL
A local enthusiast lias presented a trophy for the most improved player in the Alexandra team. This should prove an incentive to players to train. At Alexandra on Saturday a good game of football was seen between Matakanui and Alexandra, the game ending in favour of the visitors by 21 to 9. The Matakanui backs were superior, but they met their match in the forwards. For the winners tries were scored by Nind (2), Donnelly, Milne, Robertson and Samuel. For Alexandra Redmond and Lunn scored a try each and Love kicked a penalty goal. At Cromwell Clyde was defeated by 33 to 3. Next Saturday Clyde come to Alexandra (Mr A. Hamilton referee); Matakanui travel to Cromwell. In all probability a Tournament will be held at Alexandra on lllh September.';
