ICE CARNIVAL

The Ice Carnival held on the Manorburn Dam on Saturday last was well patronised, a crowd of some GOO i eing present. There were no dull moments, the management being. excellent, the many events being run off without delay. A popular item was the Hockey match, which was won by 2 goals to nil by a team captained, by Oliver Ellis, against a team captained by Jack O'Kane. This was really the first properly organised ice hockey match played here, and the organisers were Mr Ellis and Mr Jock Wilson. The proceeds of the Carnival are to be divided between the Patriotic and Parcels fund, and a meeting is to be held to-night to finalise the matter. - The following are the.results of the events: — •' Boys—ll to 14 years.: Oliver Ellis 1, John Earwaker 2: Girls —11 to 14 years: Shirley Sunderland 1, Gwen Sanders 2. Boys—under 10: Dan Tohill 1, L. Fenwick 2., Girls—under 10: D. SchaUmann 1, M. Attfield 2. Boys—ls to 18: J. Sanders 1. Girls—ls to 18:, Jpan ,Muir 1 - Married Men's-Hep.—J. Sympns 1, A. Percy 2. Single' Men's Hep— Farmer 1, J. Stewart 2Single Ladies Hep. —Miss N. E. Jones 1, Miss Alma .Jack 2 • Relay Race— Miss .B. Warhurst and Miss 5... Cameron; A. Percy and P. Kelliher. Five teams competed . Exhibition Skating was given by the following:— Miss Sadie Cameron, M)r Graham Rivers, Mr Jack O'Kane and Oliver Ellis. On Sunday further exhibitions were given by Miss N. O'Kane and Mr G. Rivers.
