The following is the annual rep< submitted and approved at the reee annual meeting of the above club: — "Once again we place before fellc members a report on the activities the elub during the past season whi has undoubtedly been the most succe: ful one in the history of the club. T register of names contained no few than 8S at one stage. We regret to i cord the loss of one or two of our o members but a considerable number new and younger members swelled tl xanks of the elub (18 new members Xo better recommendation of the pop 'Jarity of the game can be given ths the numbers who seek admission to tl dub. » V'j'** "Fairly heavy expenditure oceurre hat despite this receipt of all the soJ •criptions before the close of the y« permits the secretary to plaee befoi you a balance-sheet with a credit ba anee of some £ls. A pleasing featui to note in connection with our balanc sheet is the absence of liabilities o any kind and unfinaneial members. "The condition of the links durinj the season was excellent. We hav to specially thank Mr V. J. Schaumani for his very efficient work; he has th thanks of his fellow-members for th pleasure he has given them. "The services of Mr I*. G. Beilij were retained for some weeks. Hi highly efficient eoaehing simplifici matters considerably for his pupils. Wi have to congratulate our former club mate on attaining recognised profes sional rank, and trust that his profes sional career will be highly successful Members should note that Mr Beillj contemplates a visit later in the season, "The season was a most sueeessful one from the viewpoint of matches. B»th the Cuthbertson Cup and Ladies' Bose Bowl were brought to a successful conclusion, Mr V. J. Schaumann winning the former and Mrs K. Scott the latter. Both players have the heartiest congratulations of their fellow-members. Seven inter-club matches were played during the season. The first match was played and won when the Cromwell Club visited the links. Some 20 members journeyed to Wanaka to be defeated in the inter-club match but had the satisfaction of bringing home the De-.var Cup. ChaUenges for the latter combined with inter-club matches kept the players busy during the season. Each of the challengers sustained substantial defeats in both matches. A very pleasant game against Clyde on their own links resulted in a draw. While we do not wish to lose the Dewar Cup we must admit that it would benefit the game in Central Otago if it moves on several times during the season. "During the mateh against Roxburgh Mrs F. Laloli gained the distinction of hoUng a 'one' at the ladies' first hole. This is the third oeeasion in the history of the elub" that a 'hole in one' nas been accomplished. "During the year the idea of a body to control golf in Central Otago was mooted. The Clyde elub acted as conveners and a meeting of delegates was held at Clyde to diseuss the matter. Unfortunately we were unable to send only one delegate. A further meeting is to be held in Cromwell on April 23 at 1.30 p.m, to discuss the project. It is for this meeting to show" in which wav their interests lie, appoint delegates and instruct them how to vote. "The time has now arrrived owing to the large and increasing membership, to consider placing the working of the clnb on a more formal footing. Members will be given the opportunity of diseussing proposed constitutional rules during the annual meeting. "During the season the Saturday afternoon games were rendered much more enjoyable by the provision of afternoon tea by our lady members. They deserve a speeial vote of thanks i TO m the male members for the efficient maimer in which they handle! the letteahmort. activities of the elub, especially during the visits of neighbouring elubs. * . , "Daring the dose season experiments lave been tried out to try and establish grass on the green. On account of the fack of water an* the damage done by rabbits- these proved unsuccessful. However, other experiments will be attempted next close season. «»A championship "was commenced but fell through on aeeonnt of lack ol interest in this event. A different pro cedure will he adopted in future. Ap parentlr the two sections did not meef with the approval of the majority. "The Gazette notice that the Goli Links had been vested in the Borougl as a domain for the pastime of goll for al! time eanie to hand during th< vear. '. "Before dosing the report we won], like to stress the good rclationshil which has existed in the club during the past few seasons. Complete harmonj has reigned throughout—a very mater ial contribution towards making oui dub one of the most successful in th district. . . I "Finally, yotir secretary desires t< express his thanks, especially to thos mcmIMJM who so considerably lighten* Ms labours during a heavy season."
