ALEXANDRA TENNIS CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the above club was held in. the Band Boom on Tuesday, 15th inst. . Mr B. M'Lay occupied the chair. Those present were: Mesdames ' A. Stewart; Ellis, Watt and Belcher; Misses M'Donald and Hull,; Messrs Sunderland, Hewitt, Cowie, Douglas, Johnstone, Hannay, Bussell, Anderson and Duncan. TJie minutes of the last annual meeting were react; and confirmed on the motion of Mr Hewitt, seconded by Mr Anderson. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted on the motion of Mr McLay, seconded by Mr, Cowie.' The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr MeLay . (proposed by Mr Hewitt, seconded by Mr Hannay); vice-presidents, Messrs Hewitt and Mr J. Hart (proposed by Mr Douglas and seconded by Mr Johnstone; secretary, Mr J. Duncan (on the motion of Mr Sunderland, seconded by Mr Anderson) ; treasurer, Mr B. Hewitt (on the motion of Mr M' Lay, seconded by Mr Sunderland); auditor, Mr G. Douglas (on the motion of Mr Sunderland, seconded by Mr Hewitt);. ■The following were appointed as a ladies committee:—Miss M'Donald, Mrs Belcher, Miss Scott and Miss Hull. Mr M'Lay was appointed sole selector. ■' > ' ; Six nominations were received for the men's committee, the following four being appointed:—Messrs Hannay, Johnstone, Cowie and'Bussell. The- President, and Mr Hewitt, were appointed as delegates to the sub-union. The President was also appointed as delegate to the Beserve Committee.

Plannery. • Mr llaunay moved that the subscription for honorary members be 5s and after a good dual of discussion Mr Haiiiiay altered his motion that the fee be -2s 6d. This was seconded by Mr M<Lay and carried;. Mr, Sunderland moved that l 'uiiy. two. <>f the following officers, be authorised * to sign cheques: President, secretary, and vice-presidents.—Carried. Mr Belcher moved;and Mr Sunderland seconded that'opening day be on .Saturday, October 26.—Carried. It was agreed to hold a tournament oh Labour Day. The secretary was asked to send out invitations for .opening day and also programme for Labour Day. • It was moved by Mr Sunderland and by Mr Douglas that Mr E. Hewitt be- appointed.to the committee to help handicappers.—Carried. t It was decided" to enter only one team* for the Cup round. Hewitt, M'Lay and Sunderland—be appointed to bring three proposals-before the Borough Council in connection with the pavilion—namely, sinking'' fund, rental aud council to a portion of debt. ,—Carried.,

It was agreed that .the rent aiid interest on pavilion be paid immediately. Mr Belcher, then moved tliat any work on a. large scale should he tendered for but this motion was defeated.

One or two lady members suggested that some of the A grade players as-' sist beginners in their game and Messrs Johnstone, Cowie and Hanuay willingly offered their services'as coaches.
