Most,of the ears however made good time and despite the early hold up' ail were there before boob. On arrival it was found that the weather was ideal for golf, not a breath of wind disturbed the placid waters of the lake which lay like a great mirror reflecting the snow-eapped mountains which surrounded it. The visitors were charmed with the picturesque panorama from the golf pavilion. The links were in fair order and with few exceptions little trouble was meted out to the golfers who kept to the fairways. The greens were tricky to the Alexandra players who were not accustomed to the grass sole. v THE DEWAB CUP CONTEST. The first eight male members of the Alexandra Golf Club —Messrs V. Fenwick, Y. at that stage was alt square. Johnston ..won this hole and also the last making him the winner by 2 op. In the third match, J. A. O'Kane met Collins ami ■offered defeat at his hands. However, in the fourth.game Wntson evened up matters by defeating T. Templeton by 7 up and 5 to play. The visiting player struck form from tUe first and put on eight fours. The home player had all the bad lock and although, he made a fight of it on the inward journey could not hold his opponent. The contest at this stage was level pegging—two games to each side. F. Belcher met with stern opposition from his opponent. He managed to hold a small lead at the •turn and ran out a winner by 4 up and 3 to play. J J. O'Kane had a most interesting game with his opponent. They fought to the last green and finished the match all square. The Alexandra team's "fail wagged, both B. Boss and V.
