Alexandra A v. Clyde-Earnscleugh.

"On Saturday the Alexandra A team! journeyed to Clyde to piay ClydeEarnscleugh. The game was a forward struggle from start to finish. Alexandra were without the services of two of its team—Carline and Curtis—the places being filled by Anderson and Morrell. The following are the teams: Alexandra (Greens).

Greens won the toss and Clyde-Earns-cleugh kicked off with' the sun in their faces. The game opened up fast with Colours attacking. A free kick to Alexandra left play at halfway where it remained for some time. Colours were awarded a free kick and Lawry marked well. Alexandra pressed but Taylor relieved. Both sets of forwards were playing with dash, Alexandra showing up to advantage in the loose work. A hard kick by Beilby came to nothing the Colours forcing down. Play went to halfway. Alexandra pressed but Corson put in a great kick finding the line at halfway. The game was so far confined to the forwards. Play at this time was surging up and down the field with Alexandra having the advantage. A free kick by Hannay just went outside the posts. A few minutes later Hannay put over a good goal from near the Bide line.— Alexandra 3, Clyde-Earnscleugh nil. Colours now pressed and narrowly missed scoring on two occasions. On resuming Alexandra pressed and carried play to the Colours' twenty-five. Deliberate obstruction by the Colours went unnoticed by the referee. A free kick to Colours in their owii twenty-five saw play shift back to halfway. Another free kick to Colours sent the Greens further back. Keliher and Kinnaird were playing well, in the tight while Qui an and Lawry were prominent in the Greens rushes. At this stage Alexandra were having slightly the better of the game and were carrying most of the scrums while Colours were having the advantage in the lineouts, Kinnaird always being prominent in these. A free kick to Colours shifted , play to halfway. Hannay was getting the ball when in a worse position than;, the passer. A nice passing rush in which most of the Green backs took part broke down on the Colours line. A free kick by Hannay just missed. Campbell secured near luilfway and put in a slashing run cutting out man after man; his pass to Ryan went astray. Alexandra kept pressing, Campbell playing a great game in attack and defence. A free kick was taken by Hannay who kicked a poster. Ryan had been playing a good game right through. Shortly afterwards Hannay had hard luck with another kick r the ball striking the post. Fr«m the kick off Campbell got possession and Hannay took his cross-kick and beat several opponents to apparently score, but the referee awarded a scrum syds out. Alexandra kept their opponents hemmed in for a considerable time during which Campbell narrowly misled with a pot.
