POOLBURN NOTES.
i The weather has been fairly wet during the last few week* but no severe frosts were experienced. The hockey girls journeyed to St. Bathans on Saturday the Bth inst and suffered a defeat by 5 goals to nil. The footballers were also defeated by Low- ' bum, at Lowbuni, by 17 goals to nil., On Monday afternoon the 10th inst. a fair gathering of golfers assembled on Mr R. E.. F. Butcher's . property, Poolburn, for the opening day, this ' season, of the Bramley links .nine-hole course. The day was a little cloudy, but no-rain fell. The course was iu order and the greens were in fair condition, and some good putting was achieved. Mr P. Bloy, of Omakau, put up the best record with a splendid round of 41. Afternoon tea was provided at Mr Butcher's, residence and a very enjoyable day was 'spent. Among those present were Miss R. Nicolson (Dunedin), Mrs F. MVs. a C. Pyle, Mrs Beattie, Mrs Rutherford, Miss Jean Beattie (St. Bathans), Mr and Mrs P. Bloy and Mrs A. Fiulay-' son (Omakau), Mr and Miss Mee (Becks), Mr Jficolson, Miss and Mrs A. Tilbury (Moa Creek),, ift and Mrs R.' Butcher, Mr S, Grant (Poolburn) and Mr W. Bui man (Oturehua). • '
