MEDALS TO LOCAL BOYS.
—Presentation at Dunedin.A rather pleasant little ■ function took place in the lounge room of tho Savoy Tea Ilooms on Thursday evening last, the occasion being the presentation of medals to some half-dozen or so Alexandra boys now resident in . Dunedin. Messrs V. Gunion, L. i Anderson, R Backholm, A. Halpine, | •J. Scott and jli. and W. Thomson comprised the party, and each was the recipient of a handsome gold medal suitably inscribed, presented by the : residents of Alexandra. Mrs j Black, .President of the Alexandra! Ladies Patriotic Association, in a' neat little speech made the presentation outlining tho work done by the association for the past four or five years, and concluded with the wish that each one would long be spared to wear them.
Mr.A. Halpine suitably replied on behalf of the recipients. Mr Peter Hunt, ah inmate of the Monteeollo Home, was unable to bo present, but Mrs Black visited the Homo and persona' ly delivered the modal.
