POLITICAL NOTES.

Mi Ashworth lias addressed the electors at Bannoekburn, Lower Shotover, Gibbston and Arrowtown, being accorded a very hearty reception iiy many old friends and supporters. At Bannoekburn (the acknow'edged stronghold of the Liberal candidate), Mr .1. Ritchie presided. After a very attentive hearing a hearty vote of thanks and confidence was proposed and carried unanimously. Mr K. Scott addressed several meetings at the end of last week in' the Omakau district, including Matakanui, Lauder, Becks, Ophir and Omakau, and receiver! a good hearing. At Chatto Creek a meeting was not held, there being a cricket match in the afternoon.

Owing to the hall being engaged

for Wednesday evening Mr Scott will address the electors in the Alexandra Town Hull on Friday night. He will visit Galloway on Friday after noon at 3.30 p.m. To-iuorrow (Thursday) he will visit Shingle Creek, Fruitlands and Earnseleugh. See advertisement for time. There are 77 polling booths in new YVakatipu electorate, as compared with Go in 1911 election. There will be no polling booth at Macetowu at the forthcoming election, less than 1-3 votes having been recorded there at the licensing pol! taken in April last. Waitiri is also cut out.

There are three clergynu'u standing at the elections. AH three are for Labour. The Rev. Bloom is the Labour candidate for Wuitomo, the Rev. Moses Ayrton fur Palmerstou North, and Rev. J. K. Archer for Invercargill.

Mr Ashworth had a good meeting at Cromwell, the hall being well filled. The Mayor (Mr Btodriek) piesided. The addtess was closely followed, portions evoking cordial applause. Several questions .were asked and answered, after which Mr dolly moved a vote of thanks.

Daring the la<t few days Mr James Horo, the Liberal cudidate for Waka tipu, has held meetings at variou : places in Ikiapeka County. At Fruit lauds on Wednesday last there was a goad attendance. Mr Symes, nrpsi.'e',, and a vote of thanks and confidence whs carried without dissent.—On Thursday Mr Horn addressed the electors a' Shingle Creek, the new school building being well tilled, Mr Haig occupied the chair, aud on the in >tion of Vlr Robert Armstrong a vote of thanks and on fideuee in the candidate as a lit and ! proper person to represent the electo.-s ' for Wakatipu was carred unanimously.—Despite stormy weather Mr Horn addressed about 30 electors at Coal Creek oa Thursday evening last the candidate receiving a hearty vote of thanks for his address.—At Roxburgh oa Friday the attendance was good, al though the weather was stormy. The Mayor (Mr Rooney) presided. The candidate spoke for an hour aud threequarters on the various political questions, aud was accorded a vote of thanks and co fWence at the conclusion of his address.—Mr Horn had a large meeting at Millers Flat,on Saturday, Councillor M'Donald occupying the chair. A vote of thanks and confidence was proposed by Mr Parker and carried without dissent.
