Porritt. who has been appointed magistrate and \yarden for this district. A public social vvij.s held in the Criterion Theatre at Paeroa, when Mr ancl iVfrs Porritt were presented, on behalf of the residenfs of the district, with a silver tray and an illuminated address, and to Master Athol Porritt a silver-mounted clock, a pair of military hair bushes being given to Master Eric Porritt. The presentation was made by Mr 11. Poland, M.P. The volunteers, in. which Mr Porritt held the rank of lieutenant colonel, also entertained him at dinner, Major Kenriek presiding. A parade of the 2nd (Hauraki) Battalion of Infantry was also ljejd, and Lieutenantcolonel VV'olf then presented LieutenantGojgn.el Porritt with the inedal for 20 years' setviae gntj an address. After a church parade on Sunday, 24th ult. ; a nublic farewell was taken, and the regret of the volunteers and fire brigade was expressed at Colonel Porritt's departure.
