GENERAL.
The Royal Engineers are tow experimenting with a motor engine to propel artillery. The average annual death rate amongst all the armies of the world is nice in each thousand. The park at Chatsworth (England) is eleven miles round, and carries about 2,000 head of deer. The wettest place is Greytown, Nicaragua, where the mean annual rainfall is 260 in. The infoimal commission set up to make inquiries in tegard to estates that might be cut up in Canterbury will report on an area of 840,000 acres in -South Canterbury and 600,000 acres in North Canterbury. The Dominion's Rifle Association meeting will begin at Trentham on March 3, and extend over eight days. The prize-money has been increased to £1,550. It is proposed to hold a Boys' Bisley, a new feature at the annual rifle championship meeting, on Saturday, March 12.
