[IN PRAISE OF MERIT. i The Cass of Mrs. E. BVS AC ARTHUR. (BT A LOCAL RBPORTBR.) The generous stirring of neighbourly Kindness that prompted Mrs. Ellen Maeanhur to give the following information to our reporter has a beneficent radiation that will not be lost upon tho residents ol Woodhaugh, Bunedin, where Mrs. Mac anhur's house is situated on the main road The lady mentioned began by saying : " In the spring of last year I was in r> very different state of health to what I an at the present time, for then I was ex periencing much unhappiness owiug to the sluggish condition of my liver. For a lon\ Lime previously I had been feeling unwell but for a while I did not take much heed ol my Utile ailments, thinking that they would perhaps go away as they had come—on 1 heir own account. What a sorry mistake (hat was to be sure ! Do you know that alast I got so ill that for six weeks I was laid up in bed, and scarcely able to move frrnv one side to the other. Oh 1 it was a tei rihly trying time, and I pity anybody wh< suffers as 1 did then." " Was it entirely with the liver that yon were suffering?" enquired the pressman. '• It was, although at the time j did no! know what was the cause of my distress, a» [ thought I had lumbago and was treating t mysell for that complaint. The pains in thf lower part of my back were so dreadful that I had to use hot fomentations ane poultices on the part affected ; but even those remedies only gave me temporary re lief. When I got out of bed it was only with a painfully slow and uncertain gait that I went about, and, being so frigh full} weak, I soon became exhausted and had ti return to bed again, where I never slept without having unpleasant dreams, au more often than not I did not sleep untt morning arrived. Awful pains in the rigir side and aches in all my limbs continually harassed me, and sometimes 1 hadto endure headaches as well. I believe that the nasty bitter taste which came to my mouth every morning had something to do with spoiling my appetite, which got very poor, and every thing seemed to have the same flavor. Quit* regularly I became troubled with flatulence after taking my food, and the pains like spasms that came to my stomach were almost unbearable. It looked as though 1 was going to be subjected to all the ailment* that are possible to be experienced, as, in addition to what I have already told you, I was frequently affected by turns of dizziness and my nerves were getting weaker every day." '' And all that time you thought you had lumbago." " Yes; and it was not till I read t Clements Tonic book that I really knew what was wrong with me, for rh it there were several cases just like mine, when people spoke of being cured of disordered livers by Clements Tonic, and I thought ii wise to try the same medicine. The very first • ottle seemed to do mo a little good, and when I had finished my second theif was not the slightest doubt in my mind that in Clements Tonic I had got just Ui< right thing for my ailments, as by that tirnt the pains in the small of my back were 8< greatly reduced that there was no more need to resort to fomentations or anythin' of that kind, and the best part of the whol* r flair was that Clements Tonic not onl) eased me, but gave me permanent reliul from my tortures. lam very pleased to b* ible to tell you that the pains in my sid< also went, likewise the headaches, and fos restoring one's appetite I do not think ther« is anything to equal Clements Tonic, whicl was just as serviceable to my nervous syj> cem, as my nerves were toned up to i nicety. hJy a further use of that remedy 1 received a lasting release from all the pain fulness which I had experienced whei flatulence took hold of me after eating, tin bitter taste disappeared, and dizzineai ceased to affect me. To one so weakened as I was Clements Tonic is a sure friend, fot its strengthening qualities were really won derfnl, and to all who suffer as I did a yeat ago I heartily recommend a course of the same medicine, my reason for so doing beinp that Clements Tonic quite cured me." " Then I may report your remarks!" " Certainly. You may publish them ip any way." STATUTORY DECLARATION.
