Poultry Notes.

The answer is: the best breed is the one that secures the most attention—its a cross between cleanliness and proper J feeding and housing. j In commencing I would advise you to start with the one breed you have a particular liking for, and stick to it if you want to make a name in the poultry world. Unfortunately, most people start religiously with one, and have from 6to 12 different breeds inside a year. Mr D. D. Hyde, Government poultry expert, will, in all probobility, pay a visit to Alexandra and deliver an address in October. The hen that is always h\inoy is usually the best layer, but if the appetite i« excessive and the ben dees not look like laying, she should be ex» amined for worms. A lotion made by boiling a few camomile flowers in water is very useful in reducing the swelling of the face caused by cold or roup;
