In, its last issue "the " Dunstan Times "again returns to the charge in support of the disparaging remarks it previously made concerning the a!. leged misconduct of the Ofcago footbaH team at Clyde and Alexandra. }• states that their information concern - ing what happened at Alexandra was obtained from what it " cons Mer e' a reliable source," and it has the cool .*.*• surance to assert that the remarks made by us last week regarding tltia matter, constituted " a palpable at* tempt to gloss over a distasteful occur* rence." Our contemporary will have a difficult task to single out any action of the visiting footballers, while in Alexao* dra, that could be construed as " a dis» tasteful occurrence," or that would justify the extraordinary charges it makes; and we regret that our con* temporary's mental vision should be» come so far distorted as to lead it to make such wild and unjust assertions. We reiterate that during their stay in Alexandra, the Otago team conducted themselves in a distinctly creditable manner, and, as we said before, this hj the unanimous opinion of those -f the public who came in contact with the visitors. When the team left Alex. andra on the Sunday afternoon eue» ceeding the match, a largo number of people, including numerous leading citizens and ladies, gathered in the street to view the departure and Md the team farewell; and we have gotm to some trouble in making inquiries from the spectators as to their imprea sions, but we have failed to get within earshot of a single discordant note regarding the conduct of the team. And we have yet to learn that the people of Alexandra have not as keen an appreciation of code that governs civilised those in other centres. at Clyde, we are ihfdPDa'e'tT by two Alexandra gentlemen whowere present, that they detected no unseemly conduct on behalf of the visitors—and the gentlemen we refer to would, we opine, be among the last to condone any misconduct such as the team is» charged with by the 'Dunstan Times,' Anyway, there were only two, or three, of the playing members present at Clyde; so that, in any case, it is manifestly unfair to besmirob the names of the team as a whole. We notice that the. O.R.F.U. intends to make a strict inquiry into the charges made, and wr are inclined *o think that our contemporary will find »h»t it has taken up an untenable position, and will find it expedient to hurriedK retire on its base. ,; •-
