Dr Dowie, who impudently calli himlelf "Elijah," is sending his wife and son to Australia in search of converts. Unlike the old-time prophet he looks not to ravens for sustenance, but to human gulls—and that he has found a plentiful crop of these in America is shown by the fact that he has built up a fortune of over a million sterling in a few years, and founded a city impiously called -Zion, while his wife goes about decked out in jewellery to the value of £3OO.
