IBY WIRE,] (From our own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday, 8 p.m. Two warm debates took place in the House last night. The first was over Mahuta's appointment, and the second in the Financial debate, when Mr Taylor moved a want-of-confidence motion over the Newtown case. This was lost by 43 to 28. This makes the third want-of-confidence motion within a week. During the Financial debate Mr Herdman made a good speech, which is stated to be the best yet made by a new member in the House. The Financial debate continues to-night, The Government held a caucus this afternoon, when the Premier stated that the Cabinet's decision regarding the Newtown case would be made known to-morrow. It is expected a Bill will be brought down in chnnection therewith. Lord Salisbury's condition shows, u£ change. Russia is sending a fleet to Turkey. Austria is much disturbed and is trying to dissuade the Czar from making any demonstration; Dunedin holds a monster meeting tomorrow night as a protest against the Premier's, attitude on the licensing question.
