Dunstan District Hospital.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the trustees of the Dunstan Hospital was held at Olyde on Friday evening last. Present—Messrs Hutton (chairman) Barry, Edser, Wilson and M'Manus; The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as follows :—- —From Miss Oarmichael resigning her position s nurse. —From Wellington hospital asking co-operation to obtain from Govevnment the privilege of importing drugs for use of hospital'free of duty.
The audited balance-sheet was laid on the table and read.
The visiting cQmmittee reported everything satisfactory about the hospital. Mr Barry proposed That the ground round the surgeon's residence and in and about hospital buildings bo ploughed and sown in grasses and otherwise improved—Seconded by Mr Wilson and carried.
Resolved That Mr Wilkinson, contractor, be requested to at once proceed with the tank stands and other works in and about the surgeon's residence.
The surgeon's report showed the number of patients in the hospital at the beginning of the month, 3 ; admitted, 1; discharged, 1, remaining, 3. * The requisition to the Otago Central Hospitals Board was laid upon the table, showing among'st other things that the subscriptions for the coming year were estimated to produce £l5O. With regard to subscriptions required the secretary suggested that a different mode of collection be adopted, and that the leading people in the different localities be asked to undertake the collection of funds, he (the secretary) being of opinion that system would work better.
The treasurer's report, showing assets amounting to £25 12s 2d, and liabilities £IOB 17s 7d, was accepted. Accounts for the past month of £SO 17s 7d were passed for payment, Proposed by Mr Barry and seconded by Mr Edser—That the resignation of Miss Oarmichael be accepted with regret and that her salary be paid to the date of her leaving.—Carried,
Resolved—That Miss Oarmichael be given a testimonial conveying the appreciation of the Trustees of her services during the past two years
