I was much vexed that he did not fall into your hands when you were so close upon him, and Reference to the pursuit of Te Kooti,- the best means of carrying it out must be left to your discretion and judgement. Mr. Ormond will be at Hawke's Bay shortly and give any instruction that may be necessary. Telegraphist at Taupo will be good enough to forward above to Capt. Preece by first opportunity.
