19 March 1849 To Pitone To Te Puni and all his children, and to Te Pakuahi and his children Sir, Te Puni, Our children are going to see you and to hear what you have to say, and that of the Pakeha too, [about] the payments to be made for Wairarapa, even though it's the Pakeha's decision. That's all. Sir, the land will perhaps not be acquired for a thousand pounds a year, but maybe four thousand a year, that would be fine. That's it. From me, from Haimona Pita [Note following] 'Te Retimona and Simon Peter with reference to the payts of the Wairarapa. 18th March 1849. Addressed to the chief, Epuni, submitted by him to the Governor.'
