Auckland 20 April 1875 Dear Sir Donald, Nothing particularly exciting has transpired since my last - We heard of your arrival at Gisborne, and by this time you will have reached Napier. Letters etc. have been addressed to you at the latter place. Send you by this Mail another paper - and a Provincial Gazeteer Extraordinary with Pollens' to Sir Georg' Telegrams - His Honor is now understood to have thrown himself into the hands of the Provincial Irish Party - Provincial Elections over - Two returned as against Rowe of the Thames and old Crispe of Mauku - Holdness would have gone in also had it not been for the Crosses' attack the day before on Rees - wh. brought him and thus put him - He is an ardent admirer of the Super. and is I fancy looking for place - He now threatens to contest City East with Vogel for the House - Sheehan is expected back, but no one seems to be clear as to the point at issue in the Heretaunga Case - Many people here hope that the Govt. will find some other Judicial sphere for Gillies - more agreeable to himself and the public, considering former political relations in which I think the Govt. will concur. Believe me Faithfully H.T. Kemp
