Sir, I have the honor to acknowledge your letter of the 2nd of January, 1845, enclosing a map of the Block of Land purchased from the Ngamotu Tribe, together with the request of the Revd.- Bolland for permission to purchase "two acres of land reserved No. 16 on the Map as a site for a Church and School House". You will have the goodness to inform Mr. Bolland that the right of preemption is waived in respect of this in favor of the New Zealand Company only. Through whose agent alone can a purchase be effected within the Sixty Thousand Acres claimed by the said Company at Taranaki. I have the honor to be, Sir, Your most obt. Servant, George Clarke, Chf.
