15 March 1863 Maraekakaho My dear Donald Your note came duly to hand regarding the cattle and horses. I am going to take delivery of them on Wednesday first. Oliver is flitting to Tuke's old house on Smith's place and Ormond is going their also, so that if Campbell is coming to Oliver's he can be getting ready. I will flit imidiately also. I hope that dear little Douglas is not the worse of the wetting he got. I would like Catherine to come up while we are shifting & perhaps Douglas could come up with her. I will try and go to Pukatapu to see about the lad I was speaking to you about and if Catherine wishes to come up I might get down on Friday and bring her with me as I want to see you at all events. If you do not come up I would like to see you soon. The sheep from Major Whitmore's is here and will be branded on Monday if the weather will permit. We are all well but poor Alick he has been very poorly ever since the races but he is better a little now. I just send you this by a man that passes down today and it is written in a hurry. Ever your affectionate brother Archibald John McLeanPS. Plenty of feed and the country looking well. A J McL
