Ferry house, Turakino, Wedy. Afternoon. Dear McLean, I received your letter about an hour ago having just arrived from Rangitiki - I was delayed longer over the Reserve at Parawenua than I expected partly in consequence of Good Friday intervening - I have sketched down the River from that place and surveyed the beach on to here - but have not had time to plot the work yet. I proceed tomorrow with the beach measurement on to Wangaehu as you propose tomorrow (weather permitting) I will send Samuel on with this. You will oblige me by sending half a hundred weight of biscuit some 20 lbs. of bacon, 8 lbs. sugar, 3 lbs. tobacco two Sailors knives some pipes matches and a small tinder box - my worthies having come away badly provided with these necessaries - if you have any difficulty in sending the whole of the above send what you can. While at Awahou the Governor bothered me about a Reserve commencing at and opposite that place and extending as far up as Paraweua but of course I knew nothing of it. I do not altogether fancy his Excellency he is too vain and assuming however to please him as I wanted a canoe I staid with him on Sunday at Government ho. I have heard some report from Port Nich. of another outbreak at the Bay of Islands in which 40 people are said to have been killed - it is not authenticated. One of my men begs me to send for a quire of writing paper, he seems taken with a scribbling mania I fancy he is in love. You will farther oblige me by getting him a little. I remain, Dear McLean, Yours truly, Robert Park. P.S. Some candles and salt.
