Copy Otorohanga. Oct. 11. 1870. Mr Geo Brown My dear friend, I beg to state that we arrived safe at home after a three days passage up. On the Boys' arrival with the horses at Alexandra they told us that there was a sad affair took place at home, Wiari, one of my late wife's brothers, had made use of the axe on the persons of three individuals, and wounded them severely, about his wife, who had misbehaved herself - On our arrival home, the ''Tauas'' came, but nothing serious took place - After all of course, they took the opportunity of making a ''Taua'' upon us - which cost a little, but it all has turned out better than I thought it would. Old Wi Pukapuka has shifted quarters farther off through this affair. Nothing heard of any of the southern mobs yet. I will let you know if they come. I have not seen Tawhiao or Manuhiri yet. Rewi has gone to Kawhia. All is quiet up here at present. I trust this will find you in good health and spirits all that you can wish for. Peata desires to be remembered to you with her many thanks for your kindness. The Boy is ready to start down below so I trust you will excuse this scrall with my many kind wishes to yourself I remain Yours sincerely (sd) Louis Hetit [Copy made by George Brown?]
