Turanganui November 10th. 1868. Dear Sir, The Hau Haus are on the flats here, and they have killed Major Biggs, and Captain Wilson, and others not known. The people that have escaped are all flocking to Turanganui. The houses are being burnt. We are all assembling at the Barracks. We will be able to hold out for a day or two. If possible, send reinforcements. I am, etc. for all - (Signed) Charles W. Ferris.
