My dear Donald I got your letter by Mr Kinross. I shall be glad to go down when Mrs Kinross goes. I did everything that lay in my power to make the Campbells comfortable. Mrs Kinross seems to enjoy the change very much. She is staying at Archy's place and is coming down to me tomorrow to stay for another week. I am so glad to tell you that dear little Dugie is so much improved since he came up. I greave much to tell you that Miss McDougal presented a strange figure at the station the other night. I went up to see Mrs Campbell and to stay with Mrs Kinross all night and by some means or another got hold of what she ought to get and made quite a tandy of herself. Alex was obliged to find fault with her so she left here with a view to go to old Willie Couper or to the port. I think the latter place is the most likely but if she does go to the port I beg of you to take no notice of her and if she wishes to go by the steamer do not prevent her. I thought very well of her up till now and did all in my power to be kind to her but I find that she is all together unworthy of any attention we can show her. Alex will tell you all about it. Archy is exceedingly kind to the Campbells. He sends them milk every day. Alex is keeping well. I do hope that he will not stay at the port this time for he is looking so well just now. I was pleased to hear that yr dinner went off well. Much better than a ball. I am in haste. Always yours Catherine Douglas sends you his love. He gets 2d a day for his work.
