My Dear Sir, I have just this morning received your note, the steamer does not go today on account of the weather. Baker takes down the Waitara papers and Parris I hope will send up the Deed of Waitara. Everything is going on tolerably smooth except that man at Remuera whose wants appear more than all Kohimarama put together. I had a long letter from him today wanting saucepans and all kinds of things which I believe is not necessary. I saw Douglas at Government Ho yesterday afternoon he is all right I am working away at one thing and another and yet do not seem to do anything. I saw Sewell today who begins to see daylight through the meeting from what took place yesterday and his impression is that it will have a beneficial effect. The Kirohau have written a letter saying they are now sufficiently well to come if the Govt. wish. Mr. R. recommends their being invited to come again I oppose it because I know they cant possibly come until your meeting is all over. Kanua merely wants another long job of spending his time on the way at 5/- a day which he will not get. Yours faithfully, J. Rogan 13 July 1860
