6 July 1861 Canterbury My dear brother You will by this time be anxious to hear from me but I have been so much engaged that I had not much time to write. I have onley to say that your Otago run has been well started and is stocked to the amount required by the regulations. I have bought 600 ewes from your next neighbour Sheannan at £1.15.0 per head. They are a splendid lot of sheep to lamb in September 4 tooths sheep. The price is high but they are good sheep and on the run or within four miles of the run has got a start and I hope you may do well with it. Mr Gillies has paid part of the money and Dalgety Buckley has paid the balance. I shall soon be up and se you and give you an account of all expenses and my oppinion of the run. I have receipts for all in hopes you and Douglas is well and in hopes to se you soon. I remain dear brother Your affectionate brother Alexander McLean
