Wallingford Jan. 16th/67/ Dear McLean, You cannot get back until the 22nd. so I shall only write a line. You ought to take some immediate action about the dissolution of the Council and the getting on the new Elections. The Council expires first week in February by efluxion of time - this has never yet been allowed to take place the Gov. always granting a dissolution to save difficulties and doubts. If you apply at once and get the dissolution and the new writs assured - there is no reason why the new Council could not be elected and meet for a short sitting (as they might and must) in March; - say the first week in March, which wd. suit every one, who wd. be down for the Races at the time. The business wd. be simply to elect Supt. etc., and then adjourn to give time for the Super to form his new Executive and form plans for the future. The after and business meeting in fact wd. not be for a month or six weeks at soonest. You ought however to use despatch in getting things in train for obtaining the dissolution - election of the new council and/its early meeting. Make the latter as I say some day the 1st. week in March. I will write more next mail. Yours always, J. D. Ormond.
