SUICIDE OF THE BISHOP OF MEATH.

The Bishop of Meaih suffered from pleurisy and bronchitis. Early on Saturday morniDtr, 29th July, be rose from his bed and entered the adjoining dressing-room, and h.ving locked the door, he severed the uruiiea of his ibr.mt with a razor. One of the symptoms ot the disease, and of which the Bishop hiroself complained, was a pres< ure of blood to tbe hea J. The instant reiitf and return of reason after the artery was severed aud biood escaped, together with the fact that on the mot'uing of the occurrence, and throughout bis entire illness, he was perfectly collected and hopeful, shows how audden and purely physical was the attack which temporarily deprived him of reason, aud how absolutely unpremeditated wus the nut. An inquest wus held, aud a verdict of temporary insanity while suffering from disease, returned in accordance with the facts. The diocese, including the Counties of Meath, Westmeath, King's County, and pans of Longford and Cavao, is of tbe annual value of £4,500. As Bishop of Meath, Dr Butcher borß the title of " Most Reverend."
