Mr. John Jeromson has been appointed fourth engineer oE the Waitomo. .THE PORT PIRIE. The Port Pirie left Auckland yesterday morning for Napier. She will later come on to Wellington. The Port Pirie was formerly known as the Star of India, and last visited Wellington about five years ago, when she carried a portion of the Main Body troops. Captain F. Parmar, who is in command, has with him the following officers:—First, Mr. J. Ferris; second, Mr. W. L. Lynd; third, Mr. A. S. Moore; chief engineer, Mr. A. Weir; se. cond, Mr. H. Sparks; third, Mr. S. Webb; chief steward, Mr. A. Hales. The Port Pirie brought to Auckland the following passengers:— From Capetown: Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Taylor .'■and'Mr. E. Williams. From Sydney: Mrs. G. iWoods, Messrs. T. B. Graham, W. E. Woods, N. Dennis, S. A. Wilson, Lieut. Lyons. SOMERSET, PROM LIVERPOOL. The F. and S. liner Somerset left Liverpool on the 2nd July with a cargo for Auckland, Wellington, and Australian ports. She will go first to Lyttelton to disembark troops, »nd ■ will then proceed to Auckland. ■ She is due about the 11th August. The Mokola' will not now leave Auckland until to-morrow afternoon for Napier and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on Thursday, and, if possible, will sail the same night for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Corinna, which arrived at Wellington yesterday from New Plymdith, will be sent on this evening to Timaru, Oaraaru, and Dunedin. The converted dredge Progress is at present loading at Dunedin for Kaipara. She will proceed later to Whangarei to ship timber for Sydney. « Captain G. A. Marks will have charge of the vessel. Reporting to the last meeting of the Wanganui Harbour Board the harbourmaster (Captain P. Mclntyre) stated that 113 vessels entered and left the port during the last month. One ocean liner was in the roadstead during the month.
