FIVE MINUTES' DARKNESS
♦ — i — The supply of electric light in the city failed at 7.10 last night, and for five minutes people who relied on that form of illumination, especially the ohurehes, were put to considerable inconvenience. A host of householders, occupied with _ all sorts of duties, fouad their occupations suddenly interrupted. Peoplo abroad on the hills saw the multitude of brilliant lights of th© city suddenly blotted out, and ' for some minutes the darkness persisted. The relighting of the city, when the supply was renewed, was an extraordinary sight, for the current went on gradually, and the lights began to glow faintly at first, merging from red into white. Those who happened to 6ee it were brought to an astonished realisation of what harnessed lightning means to a place like this. The official explanation of the stoppage, wluoh lasted for exactly five minutes, is that a new switchboard has been installed in the power station, and tho current was being changed over to the new installation. While the operation was in progress tho main switch "tripped," cutting oft the supply. The new switchboard is an elaborate and thoroughly up-to-date apparatus for the distribution of the electrical supply to the city's great clientele of consumers, and the complete transference of the supply to the new set of controls has been carried out moj?t successfully. Time is money ; motor, delivery saves time and therefore money. Every business house is looking for fresh custom; a prompt and systematic delivery 6ervice is the surest way of getting it. How to deliver more goods in a given time, how to increase tho number of daily deliveries, how to widen the area of distribution, are problems that I have made a study of. I have in stock several types of the famous Wall Parcel Car. Any trial given. Call and inspect. J. E. Fitzgerald, Motor Dealer, Wfl. L*mbtoa-qu*y,~ Advt,
