The schooner Aurora and brigantiue Enterprise, loaded with timber, for Wellington, are lying windbound at Kaipara Heads. Onehunga, 14th September. Sailed.— 4 p.m., Wellington, for the South. Passengers for Wellington — Mesdames Backhurst and David.sou, Messrs Richardson and Raphael. Westport, 14th September. Sailed. — 8 p.m., Matiu, for Wellington. Lyttelton, 15th September. Arrived. — Vallejo, barque, from Auckland. Sailed. — 9 a.m., City of Sydney, for Port Chalmers.

The s.s. Alhambra, from Melbourne, had not arrived at Hokitika up to the time of our going to press. She was due yesterday. Captain Cochrane, the owner of the schooner Shepherdess, speaks highly of the manner in which the captain and crew of the schooner Aspasia assisted him iv saving the former vessel while in Worser's Bay. Messrs Beck and Tonks' barque Malay, from Newcastle, arrived off the Heads this morning, and anchored outside, the wind being uufavorable to her getting in. We learn from the Harbor Master, Captain Holliday, that he received a telegram this morning from the signalman at the outer station, to the effect that a large iron ship was, running through the Strait, apparently bound to the eastward of this island. An investigation into the accident to the schooner Shepherdess was held to-day at the Custom House, but nothing was elicited from the witnesses which has not already been published in these columns. The pin of the s.s. Moa's propeller being^ adjusted, she steamed round to the whart this afternoon. The s.s. Matau is expected here from Westport to-night. She will sail for Kaikoura and Lyttelton to-morrow afternoon. The s.s. Tui left Foxtou at 3 p.m. yesterday, with the schooner Clio, bound for Waitara, in tow; crossed the bar at 4 p.m., and arrived here at 1 o'clock this morning. She sails for Foxton again at 5 o'clock this evening. The ketch Falcon arrived from Blenheim this morning. The s.s. Stormbird left Wanganui at 5 o'clock last nierht, and arrived in harbor at 6 o'clock this morning. She returns to Wanganui tomorrow at 1 p.m. The schooner Oreti arrived from Wanganui this morning. Messrs Greenfield and Stewart's brigantine Hannah Broomfield arrived iv harbor this afternoon from Kaipara, with a cargo of kauri timber. The s.s. Easby left Port Chalmers at 4.15 p.m. on the 12th, experienced light northerly winds and thick weather to Banks' Peninsula, and arrived at Lytteltou at 3 p.m. on the 13th; left at 3.30 p.m. yesterday, had frdln northerly winds, and came alongside the wharf at 1 p.m. to-day. The Easby has 200 tons coal to discharge here. She sails for Newcastle at 2 p.m. to-morrow. The schooner Kaikoura took her departure for Havelock this morning. The schooner Kaiuma came off Meech's slip yesterday morning, after undergoing a complete overhaul. We learn from the New Zealand Herald that Messrs Krull and Co.'s whaling brigantine Isabella had shipped per s.s. Ino 38 casks of oil, being the produce of two humpbacks caught in the vicinity of the Bay of Islands. The Isabella intends to cruise about the Kavalli Group, so as to meet the fish coming from the north. The ship Howrah, so well-known at this port, cleared Gravesend on the 28th of last July for Nelson, where she will land 260 immigrants, after which she comes over to Wellington to discharge her cargo. She will be followed by the ship Ocean Mail, which was to leave London for Wellington on the 20th August. The Ocean Mail brings no immigrants. One of the New Zealand Shipping Company's vessels was to follow during the present month, with immigrants, for this port.
