£7OO DAMAGE.

FIRE AT A SAWMILL. (PEESS ASSOCIATIOX TBLEOBAM.) HAMILTON, February 17. A busli fire which started in the vicinity of the Raglan Sawmilling Company's mill, at Hutiwai, got out of control yesterday. In spite of the desperate efforts of the employees the fire destroyed the mill and a quantity of sawn timber. Two dwellings, occupied by two of the partners in the concern, Messrs W. Munro and J. Russell, shared the fate of the mill, which was situated near the West Coast, about four miles south of Raglan. _ It was only a small enterprise, worked by eight men, and the dwellings were not pretentious structures. The total damage is estimated at £7OO, including £2OO worth of sawn timber. Last night the fire died down considerably, but attacked standing bush on the property of Mr M. F. Andrews, whose house was threatened.
