Phil Robinson's Divorce Case, SINGULAR STATEMENTS.

Sarah E. Robinson, wife of Mr Phil Bobinson, the war correspondent, appeared bofore Mr Justice-,Butti m London, on tho 20th May, in support of an! application for a dissolution of marriage, on, the grouud of cruelty, adultery, and desertion. Bhe was married in December 1876, and iadiwo children, a girl aged nine and a boy aged eleven. She stated that in, 1882 Mr Robinson abandoned a position on the Daily Telegraph, which waa worth £1000 ft year, and in September or October of that year she was left with one child dying,.withont money for support. The Court found some difficulty in reconciling gome of the statements made by the applicant, who insde some very singular statements about her husband. Mr, Justioe • Butt indicated that it was hard to -understand, how she could have been left without means of support if she had, 16. trunks of jewellery and wedding presents' in her possession, whereupon Mrs Robinson' replied that' she had been left without money to live upon. The Bteward'and stewardesa'on board the steamer Drunimqnd Castle deposed that, in May 1884] the respondent, and a lady who is not the petitioner, travelled as man and wife • from Lisbon for England. The court held that the. ■identification of Mr Robinson was not complete, and ,adjourned the case to' enable the, steward and stewardess of the DriunmoncL Castle 1 to be confronted with Mr Robinson, a course which his solicitors offered to facilitate.
