SIR JOSEPH WARD AT TEMUKA.

TIMARU, Dec. 4
Sir Joseph. Ward arrived at Temuka* from the south by express, spent an hour at a Methodist garden party, and visited the Bramweli Booth Boys' Home. At night he addressed a crowded meeting in the Dominion Theatre, many being; unable to obtain admission. People were present from all parts of the surrounding district. Deputy-Mayor Cartwright presided. Sir Joseph Ward was received with cheers on entering, and at tlio conclusion of a two hours' speech was given a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence as the leader of the Lib-era! Party. He goes north tomorrow, probably speaking at Geraldine.
(Per Press Association.) TNVEROAB-GILL, Dec. 4. Mr Hannn opened his campaign at the Municipal Theatre to-night. There was «i largo* attendance. Or Longuet presidsided. llie candidate dealt in ra general with political topics, and expressed approval of most of the planks of Sir Joseph Ward's programme. He said he bad boen asked if lie would take a seat in the present Government if offered one, but declared he would not-. On a no-confidence motion he would vote to put the Liberals in-power, but would notl tape office in any Government where the Ministers were not selected pi/rely for their qualifications. A vote of thanks and confidence was curried, with a fair body of dissenters.
