This morning, for the first time, the "Chronicle" is printed on the Cossar Patent Flat Bed Web Machine, which recently came to hand from the makers, Messrs. Payne and Sons, of Otley, Yorkshire. This machine was specially selected by our Mr. J. A. Young, after a careful and practical inspection of all the best and latest machines suitable for printing a paper like the "Chronicle," which the best known builders of the Old Country had to offer. It ?s, indeed, the first machine of the kind perfected. At the time of Mr. Young's visit to Messrs. Payne and Co/s works the firm's experts were experimenting with a rough, but finished, model, and Mr. Young purposely remained at Otley in order to see it put to the pra*.'[tical test. This, we neec' scarcely say, proved thoroughly satisfactory, ar.d the promise has apparently been more than justified in the handsome machine which I'otv stands in the temporary room Avhich —pending more extensive alterations to tb.3 premises—has been erected for its accommodation.
