A SEQUEL TO HIS DEATH. To-day, a " notice to the chairmait, councillors and inhabitants of the Selwyn County and the Selwyn County Council " was read at a meeting of the Council. It was signed by Mr A. Dudley Dobson, and stated .that, under the provisions of the Workers' Compen- | sation for Accidents Act, he, as execu- ! tor and trustee under his late son's will, and on behalf of deceased's dependents, gave notice that his son, Mr A. G. Dobson, had been thrown out of a cart, near Kirwee, while engaged in the performance of his duty as County engineer. In consequence of the accident he had received severe internal, mii juries, which had resulted in his death at Christchurch, on January 17. The sum of £400 was claimed as compensation for the accident and death, and " unless the claim was settled within fourteen days from the date of the ser- • vice of this notice, proceedings would be instituted to recover the sum mentioned. A member inquired how the sum of £400 had been arrived at, and the clerk replied that he thought that amount was the maximum fixed by the Act. It was decided to instruct the Coun- , ty's solicitor, Mr Joynt, to protect its ' interests.
