AVON DISTRICT.
The nomination for this district took place at the schoolroom, Papanui, at noon to day. There were three electors (Messrs Norman, Winter, and De Troy) and two non-electors present. Mr De Tbot proposed, and Mr Wai. Nohman seconded, the nomination of Mr Wm. Holleston. No other candidate being proposed, Dr Donald declared Mr Rolleston to be duly elected. Mr Rolleston thanked those present for having re-elected him. The greater portion of his after remarks were directed against the Lyttelton Times newspaper. The proceedings closed with a vote of thanks to the Retu ning Oflicer, moved by his Honor, and seconded by Mr Winter.
