Fitzgerald's Circus and Menagerie.

AFTER an absence of about two years, Messrs Fitzgerald Bros, are returning this weeK -with their famous circus and menagerie, and will open on (Saturday, Sifctn inst., on the reclaimed land at Freeman's Bay. Since tneir last visit me circus has been completely reorganises ana new horses, new artists and novel •vets will oe main features in tne chow. To the company's stud there has been added a sextette of beautiful black Hungarian noises, whose intelligence and training are said lo be something out of the common, .'iiic leading novelty is known " as the " cycle whiaz," which has made a sensation wherever it has been performed. The act is done by the tour Melbournes, who. ride at a terrific pace around a cycle-track set' at. an angle of 60 degrees and measuring eignty laps to the mile. In their whirl they pass and re-pass each other and indulge in trick riding that yields much graceful work. Altogether the act is described as one of the most interesting of its kind yet performed in New Zealand. Another sensation is the representation of a South African War episode, in which the war-horse St. Just shows his intelligence and high training. Oae of the horses in the circus is claimed to be the smallest in the world. Other attractions are the Tylers, who go through extraordinary acts of balancing ; Madame Amelia and Master Bertie, in an exhibition of aerial trapeze balancing ; Hadji Tabar, -an Arabian contortionist ; the Delavales, trick cyclists ; Amelia Lean, equestrienne ; the Leon Family, in sensational acrobatisin ; Hagenback's Zoological Circus, under the tutelage of Herr Zaph, introducing the famous tiger pony act ; and the dummy clown West, who is said to be an exceptionally funny fellow. Mr Dan Fitzgerald, as before, occupies the position of general director of proceedings. The season is to be limited to seven nights and two matinees —Wednesday and Saturday next.
