THE AWARUA ELECTION.
(By Telegraph.) INVERCARGILL, August 6. Great interest is taken m the Awarua election, and the results were received with cheers by the supporters of the Government m town. With one return to come from Ruapuke Island the figures are : — J. G. Ward 2066 Cuthbert Cowan 910 The Rukapuke return will further increase Mr Ward's majority. The numbers at the General Election were : Ward 1836, Cowan 1051.' When the results were announced Mr Ward addressed a large audience at Winton, amidst great enthusiasm.
