DEPUTATION TO COUNTY COUNCIL

THE QUESTION OF SAFETY

A deputation from the City Council waited upon tho Waimea County Council yesterday in regard to the safety of Rocks road.

Cr. Harrison, who acted as spokesman, suggested that the engineers of the respective bodies should give a joint report on the subject, and if it was found that, the Rocks road was dangerous to traffic, the bodies concerned should consider the question of making it safe, or if this'was too co.stly consider the advisability of closing the road for traffic.

Cr. Pitt, in supporting Cr. Harrison's remarks, said that he would like to see the road widened, but he rc-alised that at- the present time this would be impossible. The deputation having withdrawn, it was resolved on Cr. Corder's motion, that the Council agrees 'to ti.e suggestion that the engineers of both local. bodies hold a conference in "regard to tho Rocks road. ■
