DESTRUCTIVE GALE AT MOTUEKA.
HOP 3 DAMAGED CONSIDERABLY.
Our Motueka correspondent telegraphed yesterday that a feaif ul ga'e was experienced throughout the Motueka district on Wednesday last. Great havoc was done in the hop gardens, poles being down in all directions, whilst the bines have been broken to a serious extent. In ooe small garden no less than three hundred pales were blown down, aad other gardens hava suffered to an evea greater extent. The damage is roughly estimated at £500, but probably the extent of the misohief fc scarcely ascertain able yut. 3)ke gale arose suddenly in the early morning and lasted all day.
