The tmce was a good one from the beginning, and i£ Limasol headed Winkfield's Pride for a few strides in lounding the Hotel Turn, he soon recovered the command. At the entrance to the old course Winkfield'ft Pride was just clear of Limaiol, who had no sooner drawn up to hi^neck in pasting the Brickkilns than third place was taken by Persimmon. The favourite was now showing great fire, and coming into the straight nearly level with the two leaders Watts set him going when fairly in the line for home. The result was a complete " break up " of the race, as although Winkfield's Pride, under pressure, shook off Limasol, he could not make the least resistance to the challenge of Porsimmon, who simply left him standing still, and won in splendid style by eight lengths ; four lengths between second and third.
