The lastnamed beat a retreat at the corner of the plantation, and St. Fioriiin led Ladas and Ravens- ! bury into the dip, when for a few strides the I favourite assumed the command. There was no heart, however, in his work, and with Isinglass, who had gradually crossed over, running on in earnest he collared Ladas on the brow of the hill. In turn he forged ahead of tbe favourite, and the pair were then immediately challenged by Bullmgdon whohadbeen^stealing up almost unobserved.
