An excellent start sent the quartette on their way on even terms, and on settling down Rosy Morn went to the hoad of affairs, followed by Ducat, with the other pair lying side by side at their heels for half the journoy, when the Frenchman took up the running, out entering the straight was again passed by the favourite two distances from home. Laverock took second place, and at the Bell made his effort, but could not overhaul the favourite, who easily Bhook him off, and won cleverly by three lengths, , THE DERBY. M. de Rothschild declared to win with Talisman in preference to Woodstock, but Sir J. Willoughby made no declaration, and it was understood that both Queen Adelaide and Harvester would be ridden out on their merits. After his reported accident a few days before tho race Harvester was almost knocked out of tho betting, and at the start he was quoted at 100 to 7. St. Gatien appears to have lain in a good position throughout the race, vr\th Harvester behind him. The former looked all over a winner a short distance from home, but Harvester collared him at the Bell, and, breasting the hill like a lion, was just in time to make a dead heat of it, the pair running locked together for the last few strides.
